The food waste has been one of the social
problems, with that some countries have developed create laws that help to
reduce this problem, like Italy.
In 2013, the Italian Ministry of environment
started working on a National Plan for food waste prevention.
The goal is to save a million tons of food a
year, Italians want to promote the donation of these foods to more vulnerable
sectors,
today the unemployment rate in the
country is approximately 20% of people living in povert.
The foods that can be donnate need to be in
the standards of hygiene and safety, those who have the expiration date to win and those who have
not been placed on the market due to an error in the label.
Restaurants and supermarkets who wish to give
up their surplus to charity must file a declaration five days in advance, they
will also have tax incentives and tax rebates to donate food and medicine.
The objectives of this new national law are:
- to reduce the waste production along the whole chain for food and pharmaceutical products
- to promote the recycling and donation of food for the purpose of social solidarity and human use
- to reach general
objectives established by the National Programme for the Waste Prevention and
the reduction of the biowaste going to landfills
so we need to get the Italy program in our
country, encouraging the donation of food that will not be consumed we can kill
the hunger of many people who need to survive and we evolved as people.
